How are donors and sponsors recognized?

How are donors and sponsors recognized?

Donors and sponsors are recognized on our website, in advertising and printed materials, and, for sponsors of particular events, at the events themselves.

Donors receive a charitable donation receipt automatically if they donate through SBA's Canada Helps page. If they donate directly to SBA via cheque, they can request a charitable donation receipt from the office. Sponsors do not receive a charitable donation receipt, as they receive compensation in other ways, including advertising and complimentary tickets to the Awards Ceremony. Please see Sponsor Recognition for more details.

Who are the other donors and sponsors?

Who are the other donors and sponsors?

The awards and events are sponsored by individuals, private corporations, municipal, provincial and federal governments, and by the academic community. In turn, the Saskatchewan Book Awards provides its sponsors and donors with valuable media and public recognition throughout the year.

How will my donation be used?

How will my donation be used?

Donations are used to support many of the Saskatchewan Book Awards' events, including the shortlist readings and the Awards Ceremony. Authors receive an honorarium for each reading and presentation they take part in during an awards cycle. Donating to the Saskatchewan Book Awards means that we can continue promoting authors and publishers in Saskatchewan by celebrating their achievements.

Sponsorship of an award directly benefits authors and publishers because nearly half of the sponsorship will be provided to the winner of the award, to reward their work and support future work. The remainder of the sponsorship goes towards the administrative costs of running the awards program. Sponsors receive all the benefits of SBA's sponsorship package, including four complimentary tickets to the Awards Ceremony, a signed copy of the winning book, logo placement on the website and various advertisements, and more.

What will my donation do for authors and publishers?

What will my donation do for authors and publishers?

The awards directly benefit authors and publishers by providing an incentive to strive for excellence. The cash awards often provide the financial means for the author to write another book, and provide publishers with the means to promote their books. Both media coverage and book sales go up for the authors and publishers who are shortlisted for or win a Saskatchewan Book Award. The public events, and the awards process, generate interest, excitement, and pride for authors and publishers throughout the province, as well as providing authors with opportunities to meet their readers and sell books.

Why should I support the Saskatchewan Book Awards?

Why should I support the Saskatchewan Book Awards?

Your support will be used to celebrate, promote, and reward the authors and publishers of Saskatchewan for their hard work in this province. SBA is the only provincially-focused book awards program in Saskatchewan and a principal ambassador for Saskatchewan’s diverse literary community. Donors and sponsors allow us to build greater awareness of Saskatchewan books through readings, festivals, and other events. SBA's solid reputation for celebrating artistic excellence in style is recognized nationally.

Sponsorship of the Saskatchewan Book Awards directly benefits Saskatchewan's literary community. Books that are shortlisted or win our awards experience a surge of promotion and an increase in sales. The financial boost that these authors and publishers receive, both from the cash awards and book sales, means that they can continue to fund their next writing or publishing project. Saskatchewan literature flourishes when we recognize the excellent work of authors and publishers in the province.

Exposure to Saskatchewan literature promotes and encourages an understanding of our own place in the history of the province, the country, and the world. Encouraging people to read and become engaged with the stories of our province fosters literacy and lifelong learning. The awards program instills a sense of community among Saskatchewan's authors, publishers, and their readers. We look forward to working with you to enrich community, well-being, creativity, diversity, and prosperity in Saskatchewan.
