A History of Breathing

About the Author

Daniel Macdonald is an award winning playwright, as well as a theatre director and teacher. His
plays include Velocity (premiering in London in April, 2014), A History of Breathing,
MacGregor's Hard Ice Cream and Gas, Johnny Zed, The Musical! (The Musical), and Radiant Boy.
He has also collaborated with students on several full-length plays for high schools.
His plays have been produced and workshopped across Canada and the United States. He is a
two-time recipient of the Regina Writer's Award and the Enbridge National PlayRites Award and
holds an M.Ed and an MFA (directing) from the University of Regina. He currently teaches high
school and university classes and recently devised a new work with high school students for the
Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland.
