2026 Saskatchewan Book Awards - Call for Entries and General Submission Guidelines

The SBA offers up to 14 annual or semi-annual awards to celebrate, promote and reward Saskatchewan authors and publishers worthy of recognition.  Of the 14 awards offered by the SBA, 12 are awarded annually and two awards are offered in alternate years.  Le Prix du livre français, offered biennially in odd number years, will not be awarded again until 2027.  The Young Adult Literature Award and the Children’s Literature Award are offered annually but in alternating years. The Children's Literature Award, last awarded in 2024,will again be awarded in 2026.  The Young Adult Literature Award last awarded in May 2025 will not be awarded until May 2027.  Saskatchewan Book Awards looks forward to receiving your submissions for the 2026 award season.  In 2026, pending sponsorship, the following Awards (13) will be presented at the Saskatchewan Book Awards Annual Gala and Award Ceremony in Regina on Friday, May 1st, 2026:

  • Indigenous Peoples’ Writing
  • Fiction
  • Saskatoon Book
  • Indigenous Peoples’ Publishing
  • Non-Fiction
  • First Book
  • Publishing in Education
  • Poetry
  • Children's Literature

Submissions for the 2026 Saskatchewan Book Awards will be accepted starting Tuesday, September 2, 2025.  The deadline for submissions is no later than Friday, November 7, 2025 at 5:00 pm.

Be sure to check the eligibility requirements for each award entered.  Except for the Children's Literature Award), books submitted for adjudication this year must meet SBA's eligibility criteria and have been published between November 1, 2024, and October 31, 2025.
