About the Book
George Barris was a legendary customizer best known for building cars for movies, TV shows, and Hollywood starts. Esso in Canada hired Barris to create the ultimate car for family travel as prize giveaways at Esso gas stations during Canada's 100th birthday in 1967. By purchasing gas, customers could enter their name for a chance to win one of the four 67-X cars that were built. The 67-X had futuristic styling, a wrap-around back seat, a swivelling front seat, a cooler, flip-up table and two radios. Four lucky Canadians had their names drawn and then they were driving their own 67-X. This book tells the stories of the four original winners, the three current owners (there's a mystery over what happened to one of the cars) and some of the other owners of these rare cars.
