Our Grandmothers’ Hands is a visually stunning museum-style art book. Guided by the desire to repatriate lost “grandmothers” back to the Métis Nation, award-winning Métis poet Gregory Scofield has lovingly spent the past several years acquiring a one-of-kind collection of Métis beadwork, embroidery, and other aspects of decorative material culture.
Gregory Scofield is an award-winning Métis poet who has published eight volumes of poetry and is presently an Associate Professor in the University of Victoria’s Department of Writing. A skilled bead-worker, he has assembled a large collection of Métis artifacts, which is the basis of his book, Our Grandmothers’ Hands.
